Sports Photographer Thierry Larret has used Hähnel Extreme batteries for a few years now. When it comes to sports photography, you can't risk missing a shot because of depleted batteries, so you will have to trust you batteries. Thierry recently took the Hähnel Extremes and ProCube charger with him to Roland Garros and happily shares his experiences with us in this short interview.
You say that you have used hähnel Extreme batteries for quite some time now. For how long have you used Extreme batteries?
Thierry: "I think I started using Hähnel Extremes batteries in 2023, a few months after buying my first Canon R6 MK II. Combined with the ProCube 2, it allows me to quickly charge 2 batteries simultaneously."
Great combination! How many Extreme batteries do you own?
Thierry: "Currently, I own 4 Hähnel Extremes batteries."
We noticed that you use the Hähnel Extreme batteries in your battery grip. Why do you use this grip?
Thierry: "I currently work with two Canon R6 MK II bodies, one of which is equipped with the Canon BG-R10 Grip. This allows me to have a better grip with a telephoto lens. It also allows me to put two batteries inside and have even greater autonomy."
We noticed you label your batteries. What is the purpose of this?
Thierry: "I usually label all my gear. As a sports photographer, I work in an environment with many photographers and similar equipment, often in a confined space. It reassures me to be able to identify my gear at a glance thanks to my labels. The labels on my batteries also have a number based on the order of purchase."
Great idea. Now, the question that's most important to us: why have you chosen hähnel Extreme batteries?
Thierry: "I find the Extreme batteries much more efficient than the Canon batteries that come with the camera. The batteries hardly discharge when left unused for a few days. I don't hesitate to recommend them to my fellow photographers, because there's no doubt that Hahnel batteries are better than the original Canon ones.”
Good to hear that you happily recommend our Extreme batteries. In what way are they better than the original Canon ones?
Thierry: "My first Canon LP-E6NH battery, delivered with the R6 MK II, dates from June 2023. Fully charged, it already has a wear diode. You should know that I rotate my batteries, so they are not used for every report. The price-quality ratio is undeniable for me since the Hähnel Extreme are less expensive and I find them more efficient. They practically do not discharge between 2 reports, which avoids recharging cycles and therefore wear."
Is there any room for improvement? What could make the Extreme batteries even better?
Thierry: "Hähnel Extremes batteries are already powerful. Photographers always want more, but I'm sure Hähnel engineers are already working on even longer battery life."
Is there a photo you took at Roland Garros that you're particularly proud of?
Thierry: "This photo was taken during the last Roland Garros Tournament. I chose Coco Gauff (who won the women's tournament). I really enjoy photographing this athlete who is powerful and graceful. She has a determined and expressive look on each of her balls. I hope you like it."

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion, Thierry!
